I'm a new subscriber to this list, as it seemed the most appropriate one. I've looked over the past 2 years of messages, sorted by date and did not find anything regarding my questions, or their answers. Further, I've studied the RHN documentation (rhn.redhat.com/ rhn/help/reference/rhn500) without much success either towards better answering my questions. Should there be a better place for me to address my questions, please direct me. Thank you. What resource can I leverage to become aware of changes to the web page content of the RHN web pages without having to manually walk through each web page and cross-reference with our directory/file structure? I've access to our local master replicated copy of the ISO's from RHN for which we are entitled to. Our work with them is within a private isolated LAN. The challenge is keeping up with not just the new OS releases (we can anticipate those due to the publicity) but also all the other elements. It seems the five entries for MRG (under RHEL5 x32 and x64 bit) are total duplicates of each other, down to the MD5 sums. If they are all, literally, the same, why not simply have one comprehensive entry? I do have other questions, some more detailed, but I'll hold off for now to see if I'm in the right place. Just because some package might work on i386 and x86_64 doesn't mean it will work on the other supported architectures, right? There is currently no way to do this, however it is on the roadmap for Spacewalk (which is the upstream open source project for Satellite). Here's a link to the doc that they wrote about it - https://fedorahosted.org/spacewalk/wiki/Features/SupportUser Does this meet your needs? It will likely be in some future version of Satellite. > ________________________________ > Attention: This electronic document and associate attachments (if any) may > contain confidential information of the sender (SHAZAM Network) and is > intended solely for use by the addresses(s). > ________________________________ > Attention: This electronic document and associate attachments (if any) > may contain confidential information of the sender (SHAZAM Network) > and is intended solely for use by the addresses(s). This is just wrong on a public list. There are many free e-mail services that you could use that do not subject your readers to the burden of this drivel :) _______________________________________________ rhn-users mailing list rhn-users at redhat.com https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/rhn-users Attention: This electronic document and associate attachments (if any) may contain confidential information of the sender (SHAZAM Network) and is intended solely for use by the addresses(s). Hi Christopher, This list is for "Discussions about Red Hat Network (rhn.redhat.com)" so you might try asking on another one that isn't as narrowly focused. We have a mixed deployment of mostly RHEL 4.7 servers with some newer RHEL 5.3 servers. How easy is it to change these over to using the Satellite server? We're using Puppet to push out the /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources file (to use EPEL as well), so that shouldn't be too hard, but how do we go about moving the systems across from rhn.redhat.com to the Satellite server? I'm trying to convince the management that they need to send me on the RH401 course, but as they'll have just sent me on the RHS333 course it's going to be a bit of a push ("global financial crisis" seems to be the standard response :-) ). In the meantime check out the documentation : http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/satellite/ Specifically the bootstrap section: http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/satellite/Red_Hat_Network_Satellite-5.2.0/html/Client_Configuration_Guide/ch-bootstrap.html The bootstrap facility automates the config changes required for the client to use the Satellite.
