Now a tool that we use to download packages out of our channels is getting a 404 error. I suspect the maintenance performed changed the URL this tool uses to download packages. Does anyone have any specifics as to the maintenance performed this weekend? The tool I'm using is commercial software which is compiled so I can't see exactly what URL it's trying to use to download the packages. I suspect that this is the URL it's trying to use: https://rhn.redhat.com/network/software/packages/details.pxt?pid= ID> When I call just https://rhn.redhat.com/network/software/software/details.pxt I get a page not found error. I honestly don't know whether or not this URL worked prior to this weekend. I just grabbed this by doing a 'strings' on the binary I call to download the packages so that's why I'm suspecting this. Red Hat Network (RHN) Hosted website session times out too quickly???? :) In specific for you though, it seems that page url changed https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/software/packages/details/Overview.do?pid= Most likely due to re-writing the page from perl (.pxt) to Java (.do). I would suggest to point who ever wrote the software to use standard API's (https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/apidoc/index.jsp) and not what I assume to be screen scraping. If the RHN API does not meet their needs you may find that Satellite's extensive API set does (http://www.redhat.com/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Network_Satellite/5.3/API_Overview/html/index.html). Maintenance releases are defined due to the ISO being released, which for RHN coincides with the fact that a huge amount of Errata is released that same day into said channels. For instance completely patching from RHEL 5.3 to RHEL 5.4. What I am wondering is other than what the actual ISO contains what is the meta-data that RHN uses to describe the update? Or does RHN not have the ability to pass along complete update description data to define that atom update action? On point releases, they update a lot of packages all at once, and that marks the new point release. Theres nothing in any metadata or rpm that says "This is a 5.4 package, so make sure that its a 5.4 box before applying" What is the end goal of getting this information? You might be going about it the wrong way.
