Not to derail this interest, though in Cobbler right now we're getting 
much better support going (devel branch) for supporting Debian and 
Ubuntu  (preseed and kickseed) for imports, already having support for 
SuSE (AutoYast).

The next logical step is to teach "cobbler repo add" about "apt-mirror" 
to make it truly distro agnostic and get it packaged in more places.

I think that's a pretty quick win if you're interested.
