It's always supported multiple versions of the same distro.  The
problem came in when there were multiple packages with identical NEVRA
from different providers (hence signed with a different key, therefore
having a different md5sum on the package).

With Fedora now changing to a signing key per release, I guess this
now applies to Fedora as well.....
