Is that because they conflict with those Solaris 10 packages, or?

If you just do not install the Solaris 8 packages and use the Solaris
10 ones, what will happen?

Ummm ... vice versa?

The general idea with the rhn-solaris-bootstrap pack is that we try to
keep it as simple and as uniform as possible. If however you'd be
willing to propose / help with some solution (sets of packages) which
would cover Solaris 8 -- 10 in a more friendly fashion, please let us
know here (or on the spacewalk-devel list).
