[Spacewalk-list] iss-parent is not configured for ISS

A quick fix would be to try adding the hostname you put into rhn.conf into
/etc/hosts with the ip address your slave is connecting from. I personally
haven't found or looked very hard into the logs on the master to see if it
ever tells you the failed hostname.

Hello,

New spacewalk user here. I am trying to use the satellite-sync tool. I have
set up the master server 'disable-iis=0' and I have listed the slave in the
'allowed_iss_slaves=' option in /etc/rhn/rhn.conf, for good measure I also
listed these values in /etc/rhn/default/rhn_server_iss.conf, although I am
not sure the values need to be set in both.

I set up the slave server with the master servers value's and also enabled
iss in the same fashion. When running a simple channel list I experienced
the bug that was reported in Bug 623699. I made the code changes as
described in the fix (since I was unable to find the new spacewalk-backend
rpm that was listed). Details can be found here:

http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=spacewalk.git;a=commit;h=1ae63d9413faba14631ce9e90b91a76496406167

Once I did that, a general list gives me this error:

[root@]# satellite-sync --list-channels
14:19:56 Red Hat Network Satellite - live synchronization
14:19:56 url: <server name removed for privacy>
14:19:56 debug/output level: 1
14:19:57
14:19:57
ERROR: The Server listed within iss-parent is not configured for ISS
       capability.
Please review your configuration before trying again.

Both my slave and my master server have the correct hosts file entries. From
what little information I have given you, can anyone give me any suggestions
on what I have mis-configured?

Thanks - Cip
