For the record, I've solved all of my Oracle 11g problems by installing
Oracle to another VM and removing Oracle from the Spacewalk server.
This probably does give me more flexibility in the long run so isn't as
'bad' as I initially thought.

One key piece of information that I did stumble with (albiet one that is
probably Oracle-101 for any DBA) if anyone attempts to do this in the
future, is that the "Global Database Name" you specify in the Oracle
installer (by default its "orcl.<yourdomain>") is what you use as the
database name in spacewalk-setup, not just "orcl" which you can use as
the oracle user on the database server itself.

Thanks to the support from #spacewalk again!

Mark.
