[Spacewalk-list] postgresql uses up all connection with <IDLE> in transaction

postgres: spaceuser spaceschema [local] idle in transaction

That line begins in ps and soon after consumes all of the postgres
connections.

How can I find out :

a) what transaction is clogging the process in postgres?
b) what should I look for to prevent it from recurring?

A repo-sync will complete even though this has filled everything but no
client can check in
