osad client in my experience always uses the hostname you registered the spacewalk client to. So if you have your cert issued for the spacewalk server by it's short name, you need to either re-register using the short name or just edit /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date and change the spacewalk server name there.

Subject: Re: [Spacewalk-list] osad startup errors
I have no issue logging into the jabber server from the osa-dispatcher service running on my spacewalk server its using the following configuration
osa-dispatcher.jabber_server = jc1lspacewalk1
osa-dispatcher.osa_ssl_cert = /var/www/html/pub/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT
It seems my spacewalk clients is passing jc1lspacewalk1.fqdn instead of the hostname jc1lspacewalk1
In my osad.conf on my clients I have
osa-dispatcher.jabber_server = jc1lspacewalk1 # does not seem to work here
How can I fix this?
I think this is my problem
$ osad -N -v -v -v -v
