[Spacewalk-list] yum grouplist doesn't work

Is there an official way to import comps.xml after creating a custom channel or during the creation of a custom channel?  I would like to get access to yum groupinfo/grouplist/groupinstall.
I could only find two old threads on this, the newer pointing to this one: https://www.redhat.com/archives/spacewalk-list/2009-November/msg00066.html
I saw an example of a sql insert, but I'd rather not mess with Oracle directly.  If there isn't a "community" supported way to do this, perhaps a command such as "spacewalk-insert-comps <channel> </path/to/comps.xml>" could automate this for spacewalk users.
