Anybody have any suggestions on the best way of uploading files to config
channels? spacecmd almost meets all of my requirements but one.
Last Requirement is: If it is a text file, the file needs to be
identified as such and viewable in the GUI.

Here is what I have tried and found out about each method.

        # echo $'testing\n\\n' > testing

        # cat testing
        testing
        \n

        rhncfg-manager provided by rhncfg-management-5.10.85-1.el6.noarch:

                Pro:
It is able to upload the files as text or binary.
-> KUDOS to the writers and maintainers!!
It is able to handle .json files and end of line.
                Cons:
It is not able to backup the files without being
root.
If an ID/group is not on the backup system it
errors out on those files.
It uploads the files based on the userID, group,
perms that is assigned on the server.
Not able to change/specify userID, group, perms,
etc.

        spacecmd provided by spacecmd-2.4.11-1.el6.noarch:
                Pro:
configchannel_backup is able to backup the files
as non-root. (BIG WIN)
Able to specify user, owner, perms, etc. on
upload. ( BIG WIN)
                Cons:
                        configchannel_addfile and
configchannel_updatefile, uploads all text files as binaries and is not
viewable in the GUI.
Once a file is uploaded, not able to just change
one options. IE just userID or group or perms without providing the file
contents.

- Thanks in advance
