You seem to be missing some packages that provide the function
packages.checkNeedUpdate('rhnsd=1',)
If I remember right, these should live in /usr/share/rhn/actions
Maybe your missing the rhn-actions package.

Furthermore, when I do a 'yum repolist' command on the client machine, the number of packages listed for the Spacewalk channel is 0.
