Dennis,
 Thank you for the pointers. After running through the steps I still do not see the updates on the client. The repo files are updated as expected after running the commands. I don't see any errors in the /var/log/rhn/rhn_taskomatic_daemon.log

Below is my excerpt from the /etc/rhn/rhn.conf:

# Task-o-Matic
#
# Initial Java Heap Size (in MB)
taskomatic.java.initmemory=512
# Maximum Java Heap Size (in MB)
taskomatic.java.maxmemory=4096
# Max workers
taskomatic.channel_repodata_workers = 6
taskomatic.errata_cache_max_work_items = 500
taskomatic.channel_repodata_max_work_items = 50

Hello, when follow the instruction provided, notice that the resolution covers to issues that need to be resolved.

  1. Not enough memory allocated for the java_heap for taskomatic daemon to complete the server side cache generation in a timely matter.

I have the following settings in /etc/rhn/rhn.conf:

# Task-o-Matic
#
# Initial Java Heap Size (in MB)
taskomatic.java.initmemory=512
# Maximum Java Heap Size (in MB)
taskomatic.java.maxmemory=3072
# Max workers
taskomatic.channel_repodata_workers = 3

  1.  Once this have been resolved, you need to make certain that yum cache metadata is current on both the server and the client.  This can be accomplished by verifying the files on the server “/var/cache/rhn/repodata” or where ever your installation set the destination to be.  And finally on the client as mentioned below;

# (yum clean metadata && yum list foo-package). Just an example.

There’s several handy articles out there that tell you to regenerate_yumcache_data on the spacewalk server.

Having the same issue on Spacewalk 2.10 and CentOS 8 client. Have tried increasing the memory for task-o-matic, but still getting error 32 (Package Not Available for Installation).

I have verified that the package is on the server and can manually downloaded from the Spacewalk web interface.

Hey folks,

We also have a note on this in our docs: https://docs.oracle.com/en/operating-systems/spacewalk/2.4/relnotes/swk24-issues-memory.html<https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdocs.oracle.com%2Fen%2Foperating-systems%2Fspacewalk%2F2.4%2Frelnotes%2Fswk24-issues-memory.html&data=01%7C01%7Cssingh%40amnh.org%7C8fc6bbfe12404613d8c508d7f1088d7c%7Cbe0003e8c6b9496883aeb34586974b76%7C0&sdata=TCPZL6hrUfZoH0rr2j%2BHuMcm9baCJpC6ig04oh6pwnI%3D&reserved=0> in case you want to increase the memory beyond 4GB.

Cheers,

After changing these settings, you must restart some or all of the spacewalk services. You definitely need to look at /var/log/rhn/rhn_taskomatic_daemon.log and see if something is not working properly. The other thing to pay attention to is /var/cache/rhn/repodata and dates on each subdirectory. If you run spacewalk-repo-sync or add packages manually to a channel, taskomatic regenerates the repodata for that channel. Only when the repodata is updated will the clients see the updates. Also remember yum on each client caches metadata for six hours by default, so unless you run "yum clean metadata" and then "yum list foo-package", you might not see the update.

The the exact same thing I posted about yesterday. I'm trying to update the spacewalk files and they fail but I can update other things just fine. They show up in repo, because if I try by hand they work.

Is it something related? How can I resolve it?

Hi Spacewalk users,

I encountered error while trying to update package for a client.

I have the following message:
<noname.jpeg>

However, when I checked under packages in the respective channel, I can see that it is indeed listed there.
<noname.jpeg>

I have other packages that are encountering this issue as well, but I just state one of them.
Not all packages are encountering this though. Some of them can be updated.
