Hi all,

Happy New Year!

I see that there were some questions in December about alternatives to
Spacewalk and someone mentioned Foreman. I was already on annual leave but
wanted to write about a few resources if you're thinking about taking the
plunge.

Over the last year, I have noticed new users asking questions in the
community who have been transitioning from Spacewalk to Foreman. I opened a
thread yesterday to see can I gather feedback from them that might help
others:

https://community.theforeman.org/t/moved-from-spacewalk-to-foreman/21856

If you have experience with Foreman and want to share your 2c, please feel
free to post ^.

If you're interested in learning about how host provisioning is handled in
Foreman, we have a comprehensive guide here:
https://docs.theforeman.org/master/Provisioning_Guide/index-foreman.html

If you're interested in learning about Katello and how content is managed
in Foreman, we have a guide to that here also:
https://docs.theforeman.org/master/Content_Management_Guide/index-foreman.html#Introduction
as well as https://theforeman.org/plugins/katello/

We're quite active on the Foreman community Discourse (
https://community.theforeman.org/) and at #theforeman on Freenode IRC. We
also host regular demos every few weeks.

You're welcome to come and talk with us, describe your scenarios, and
evaluate whether Foreman might be the alternative you need.

All the best for 2021,

Melanie
