From subbarao at computer.org Fri Mar 4 16:12:24 2011 From: subbarao at computer.org (Kartik Subbarao) Date: Fri, 04 Mar 2011 11:12:24 -0500 Subject: [Thincrust-devel] partition alignment Message-ID: <4D710F68.2000800@computer.org> I notice the following warning message when using appliance-creator: Warning: The resulting partition is not properly aligned for best performance. ['/'] I searched around and found various solutions that people suggest for this. But it's also unclear to me how important alignment is for virtual disks. Could someone comment on whether this has much/any impact on the performance of the VM? Would it be possible or make sense for appliance-creator to optimize alignment when creating the partition? So I'm interested in this topic too. https://issues.jboss.org/browse/BGBUILD-157 A really nice document is attached which describes the issue (and solution). --Marek On 2011-03-04, at 17:12, Kartik Subbarao wrote: > I notice the following warning message when using appliance-creator: > > Warning: The resulting partition is not properly aligned for best performance. > ['/'] > > I searched around and found various solutions that people suggest for this.
