Re: nVidia Quadro4 500 GoGL driver

I have just had a problem with an nvidia Graphics card in a Dell Dimension 8200, installing Redhat 7.3. It was a nvidia GeForce4 MX420. It is not exactly the same, but you can try to do what I did to make it to run:

1. Upgrade your kernel to the 2.4.18-10 version. I used the file kernel-2.4.18-10.i386.rpm from a Redhat mirror site.
2. Install the driver that you can get from nvidia. Don't get the last one, since it seems that the respective libraries file is not available in the site. I used the file NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-3123.rh73up_2.4.18_10.i386.rpm that you can get from the NVIDIA site.
3. Install the libraries package. I used the NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-3123.i386.rpm that you can get also from the NVIDIA site.

After that just make the manual modifications that are suggested in the chapter 3 of the NVidia Installation guide (I think that is the name but I am not sure, if you don't find it, tell me and I can tell you the modifications)

And that's it. For me it runs. Hopefully it will run for you also. Good luck

Attempting to install Red Hat 7.3 on a Dell M50 Mobile workstation
Graphics card is an nVidia Quadro4 500 GoGL
According to the nVida website, "Quadro4 Go mobile processors are not supported in this driver"
Is this the end of the line?
If there is no linux driver for this card, then its back toWin2000 for me.
