AMD Duron

Running RH 7.1 quite well on an 850 MHz Duron motherboard.
When trying to run the purchased RH7.3 Disk 1 it goes ok until I get this:

NET4: blah blah (seems OK)
IP: blah blah (seems OK)
TCP: blah blah (seems OK)
NET4: blah blah (seems OK)
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
cramfs: wrong magic
FAT: unable to read boot sector
isofs_read_super: bread failed, dev 09:00, iso_blknum=16, block=32
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 09:00

When I boot RH 7.1 (from floppy bootdisk) everything seem just fine. Haven't been able to get LILO to work though. Here's a copy:

boot=/dev/hda
map=/boot/map
install=/boot/boot.b
prompt
timeout=50
message=/boot/message
linear
default=linux

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.9-34
   label=linux
   root=/dev/hda5
   initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.9-34.img
   append="noathalon"
   read-only

image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.2-2
   label=linux.bak
   read-only
   root=/dev/hda5
   initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.2-2.img
   append="noathlon"

The 2.4.2-2 kernel is the one in use. 2.4.9-34 doesn't boot for some other reason.
Any help is appreciated. thanks.
