latest kernel update prob

hi everyone,

tryin to install the 2.4.18-27.7.x kernel release on rh 7.3 via ssh but
encounter a weird problem...

Seems that the post install scripts dont seem to like that i am installing via ssh?

#rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.18-27.7.x.i686.rpm
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
   1:kernel ########################################### [100%]
stdin: is not a tty
stdin: is not a tty
stdin: is not a tty

And then it just stays like that (stopped it after 40mins)... Doing a ps -aux
shows this as the process causin the prob:

root 9982 97.2 0.1 1596 568 pts/0 R 12:32 44:23 umount
/tmp/initrd.mnt.SEoMFx

Has anyone come accross this prob? or any ideas on how i can go about getting
the kernel installed w/o these errors? The only way to stop the umount command
is to do a 'rpm -e' on the kernel rpm...

Any help would be appreciated :-)

-SC
