[vfio-users] alternative to input passthrough

    Hi,

Sorry then I didn't give it a go first. I thought networking weren't providing bidirectional communications yet(there was time when just guest to host was the way).

I'll give it a try then and let you know.

    Thanks!

    José.

Hey Jose,

>From the guide I linked it doesn't seem like one needs to enable any
sort of special bridge networking setup, simply to use the default qemu
networking. In my testing, that allows the guest full connection to the
internet as well as connection to the host and vice versa, which is what
most people need - unless you're looking to limited/restrict any
specific connections.

As for the responsiveness, again, in my own testing, it's as if your
mouse is actually attached to the guest. Additionally I have not noticed
any marginal delay in games such as The Witcher 3 and CS:GO.

I would recommend getting the latest versions of Synergy for both OS's
however, as at least on Windows, Synergy would not start on login in
earlier versions, which would make it impossible to control the guest as
I was not passing the mouse and keyboard through in the first place. You
can get the latest Windows/OSX version from http://synergy-project.org/,
although it'll cost $10. If you're resourceful enough you can find free
builds of the software online as it is still an Open Source tool. The
AUR edition is 0.0.1 version behind, but that hasn't seemed to hinder
the connection in any way.

You'll also want to set your guest VM to login automatically and without
a password so Synergy starts upon login. Synergy can also be configured
to start up at boot time, but whether this allows you to use your mouse
and keyboard without first logging in is unknown to me.
