since as far as i know passthrough capabilities must also be supported 
by the mainboard. Also it might be disabled in the bios with no option 
to turn it on due to crippled notebook-bios. i'd say: ask dell directly 
or get the notebook and try it out / return it if there is no way to get 
it to work...

have you tried running the adobe programs with wine?
