I agree that it would have been nicer if the ROM’s were just publicly available (for EVGA), but I didn’t have to “register” like you did.  I just e-mailed support, they asked me for the serial number over e-mail, which I provided, and that was it.  The super-fast response time won me over.

I too used to lean toward Asus brand boards, but nowadays I find myself using Gigabyte, ASRock, and SuperMicro for my virtualization-heavy systems.
