“And check the license for the logos.”

Yup, there is indeed “some rights” reserved on the Arch Linux name and
logo. I pulled the code from
https://projects.archlinux.org/vhosts/bbs.archlinux.org.git rewrote
some of the backend and tossed up an inverted blue thingy that looks
like a “V” to me :)

“only non-free component in the gentoo distro, and it was the logo.”

This is actually really common even in the open source world. Debian
and a few other distros removed kernel blobs and other shenanigans
such as licensed logos. Firefox (Mozilla) had the fox ripped out and
is called Iceweasel etc.

“But really, if you wish to delete any references to the history”

I agree. I have removed the comments. I just could not help myself. He
is the anthropomorphism of a crude .. you know what.

“Didn’t saw my username on the users list. Would it be possible to
recover the rest of the posts? The original thread has been moved to
subforum Kernel & Hardware now, still closed though”

That was my original plan. I sent a mail to Phillip Smith aka fukawi2
asking if he could export the post tables and send them to me. He was
quite willing to help but unfortunately only “the” sysadmin has access
to the backend. The sysadmin was less interested in helping. The
result was I had to write some python scripts for fluxbb that scraped
the wanted thread and populated my database. Although relatively
accurate I still had to make small corrections to about 75 posts.I
just don't the time or energy to do that again.

If you send me a mail from the wanted username on the archlinux forums
I will send you a temporary password for that username on
virtualkvm.com. I need to make sure people do not hijack other peoples
names.

All the best,
