The host has no bearing on the guest chipset decision.  I generally
recommend 440fx unless you specifically need q35 (which for a Windows
guest, you probably don't).

Maybe?  Probably?  Linux guests certainly don't care.  Windows is likely
just a matter of whether it can boot far enough to load the right drivers
and whether it needs to be re-activated.
