Tested it, fortunately they did not just put the check into an #ifndef 
WIN10, it works on my 8.1 VM with GTX 980 too.

Steps:
* I've downloaded the latest driver (465.89 - Release Date: 2021 March 
30) (it's nearly 600MB, how much spyware can you stuff into that?!)
* Installed it then shutdown
* Removed `kvm=off,hv_vendor_id=fuck_nvidia` from my -cpu args
* Reboot... and no error 43, yay

Still, my next card is likely going to be an AMD one, especially now 
that according to the rumors they finally fixed the reset bug on RDNA 2.
