sound in wolverine

Hi,
My sound card worked without any configuration on Red Hat 7.
Since installing wolverine I can not get it up and running.
/sbin/sndconfig crashes when it runs modprobe.

A quick run of "/sbin/modprobe sound" gives me this.

I have recompiled the kernel 2 different ways - with the sound driver as
a module, and in the kernel.
I ran "/sbin/depmod -ae 2.4.1-0.1.9" but it still won't load.

The module that I am trying to work is i810_audio.
The card is a Intel Corporation 82801AA AC'97 Audio - according to the
system.
"cat file.mp3 > /dev/dsp" gives: No such device.

Why would it configure itself before and now crash miserably?

  Thanks, GREG
