RE: Something is very wrong with compilation of 2.4.2 kernel (rawhide)

My math shows that 1371k kernel code is 1.3Meg, not 13.

Once the system is running you should see more memory used. It is not all
used by the kernel, There are other processes running that use memory too.
Do a 'ps aux' to see them all.

Subject: Something is very wrong with compilation of 2.4.2 kernel
(rawhide)

Here is what I get when I boot the rawhide kernel (I586, UP):

Memory: 118028k/131072k available (1371k kernel code, 12656k reserved,
91k data,
 236k init, 0k highmem

Kernel is eating thirteen megs of memory on a 128 megs box!!!!!

Once it reaches cruise speed (ie booting phase is finished I get the
following from free:

                    Total

Mem 121264

128 megs are 131072 that means kernel is eating 10 (ten ) megs of memory

Something is definitely bad here.
