I updated GIMP from 2.0.0 to 2.0.4 with the newer gtk+ and the help and 
animation program to see if it went smooth.

So far I have had no problems and I have been using the new version for 
almost 3 minutes ;-)

I enjoyed the conversation in this thread. One thing I read was that 
learning to use various tools is benefitial. You have more choices of 
ways to do things and the basics are the same even if a tool does 
something different from another tool.
