yarrow-x86_64 freeze on boot

I've just tried 3 times to get the yarrow-x86_64 fedora core 1 Final binary
iso to install following reinstall and repartioning.

Even with a '3 nogb' the boot locks up just about the time when certain usb
devices are being detected.

I'm pretty disappointed as the earlier fedora core 1 test installed pretty
well and only needed tweaking for the GUI to work.

As of now I can't even enter text mode :-(
