While I understand that you are somewhat of an insider to the HP/Compaq/DEC
Alpha stuff, I just have to wonder why my AS2100 shows the 53C825 card I just
put in it, and shows the devices on that bus. Console shows version V5.0-75.
AS2100 4/275 4CPU. Don't have a serial console line, so the following is
retyped:
P00>>>show device
dka0.0.0.1.0 DKA0 RZ29L-AS 0654
dka100.1.0.1.0 DKA100 RZ29B 0014
dka200.2.0.1.0 DKA200 RZ29B 0014
dka300.3.0.1.0 DKA300 RZ29B 0014
dka600.6.0.1.0 DKA600 PLEXTOR CDROM PX-12TS 1.02
dkb0.0.6.0 DKB0 RZ2DD-LS 0306
dkb100.1.0.6.0	DKB100 RZ29B 0016

pka0.7.0.1.0 PKA0 SCSI Bus ID 7
pkb0.7.0.6.0 PKB0 SCSI Bus ID 7
P00>>>

During boot:
bus 0, slot 1 -- pka -- NCR 53C810
bus 0, slot 6 -- pkb -- NCR 53C825

Booting under Debian without the two wide drives in is fine; I just put the
825 card in with two drives, so I'll have to readjust my booting. Although I
want the boot to be onto the RZ2DD-LS anyway since it's the fastest drive in
the beast right now. Under the Debian 2.4 kernel I'm running (which is
custom compiled for Sable SMP) the 825 comes up as scsi0 and the 810 comes up
as scsi1. I'll have to move some drives around, dd over to the RZ2DD and
reboot, I guess. Or just reinstall... :-) What I will do first is move dka0
to dkb0 and see if it will boot and run.

Ok, have swapped disks around, booting....

Booted fine on the 53C825 controller on a narrow drive. Dmesg snippet:

I almost didn't attempt this controller due to the statement that the 825
wasn't supported by any SRM; maybe that was just for the pc164 perhaps?

Man, gotta love the SBB drives, so easy to move around. Too easy, I guess,
since the device names change if any singe drive is moved.....
