The only reason I can come up with easily is the maturity due to time of 
Solaris vs Linux. The Solaris kernel has been worked on by some exceptional 
engineers for longer than Linux has been thought about. From a certain 
standpoint this is extremely beneficial, from others it really doesn't 
matter.
