I never used autopartitioning, so I saw it for the first time. Actially, 
it selects default partitions layout -
/boot - 100M, swap - double of memory size, / - 1G. Then it tries to put 
it on your disk and update initial sizes for
partitions. After that you gets to the DiskDruid there you see proposed 
layout and has ability to change it.
I just fixed that default layour reserves necessary free space at the 
begining of drive (actually anaconda knows something about
Alpha, there is code that at least checks that there has to be a free 
space for aboot loader).
