fedora x install

Hi, Todd,

Just to be clear: the Radeons are the best bet on the DS10/DS20,
and other EV6 or later machines (sorry API, no AGP or UP2000+ it seems)
if the SRM firmware is reasonably up-to-date. Not only do they work
fine in text mode and 2D, but they are the best (perhaps only) choice
for doing 3D on Alpha, and they seem to "just work", all the way from
the original R100-based 7200, through 7000, 7500, 9100, 9250; there's
even a report of x1550 (PCI) working, at least in 2D.

Most installs will include "glxgears", and you can choose to install
"ppracer" (I managed to squeeze it onto the CD :-); both should work
WITHOUT any hand-holding or manual intervention, though "ppracer"
will run better if a lot of the extraneous system services are shut
down.

Anyway, enjoy!
