Minifridge

After much fighting with that page, I ended up loading the page in lynx on my shell account, saving the file and emailing it to myself. I have finally gotten to the point I was able to get a beep code (failsafe booter) Has anyone loaded srm from the failsafe booter? Has anyone had a working system randomly lose SRM?

So far I've found two official ftps claiming to have srm roms... One the server doesn't seem to be there, the other gives error 550 for the rom. I did manage to find an FTP with a copy of 5.4, can't seem to locate a copy of 5.5-1, and the official site still claims to have 5.6 and won't cough it up. Maybe I'll call up and grab somebody by the stacking swivel on monday.

That'd be a real solid course of action, except there doesn't seem to be one on the mainboard or CPU board.

In other news my out-of-the-trash P4 is now running. I dumpster-dived a dead power supply and robbed the fan for mine. Unfortunately the latest slackware I have is 10. A bunch of stuff doesn't work right. My roomate I kicked out got my disc 1 for slack 13 I think.

I've got four more alphas I can go get: My 400, which mostly runs, my axppci33, which runs but has a dying boot drive, my decstation 3000, which runs but lacks cables to hook kb/mon/mouse up, and a PC64 that lacks that special power supply with four leads.

I guess '19' is CPU errors cleared, switching to system code... And that's where the PC164 stops.

Couple of things to check when you can manage to get back to the SRM
prompt:

1. set auto_action to HALT, then it won't try to reboot each power cycle.
2. if you have to reset console to graphics, try replacing the 3.3v button
battery, as the console setting is in memory that is backed by it, and
when that goes dead, the setting won't "stick".

Good luck.

Jay
