ncftp strangeness?

I am downloading lots of videos from my shell-account.  It seems that if I grab 
multiple file extentions like:
mget -DD *.*
ncftp locks up as the first file is about to finish.  I have a question mark on 
a single line.  I must restart my ncftp experience to resume grabbing these 
files.  The minus DD deletes from the shell once completed.
I seem to be running version 3.1.9 from March 2005.
By chance is their some way to correct this odd behavior?  Thanks so much in 
advance.
