resetting audio in gnome

I got Feisty....Every so often I get a screen that says the "volume 
control has quit unexpecctedly  If you reload a panel object it will 
automatically be added back to the panel.  If one hits enter you get the 
don't reload box.  If you give a right arrow, it moves to the reload 
box. then enter.
(It does help to be sighted and see that box).  I haven't used Ubuntu 
enough to tell what causes it.
The Ubuntu, after April 2007 release,  has Orca on it; but must be 
turned on by System.  Orca does read the box.
To activate orca Go to the basic Ubuntu screen, then I sighted get to 
System, down arrow speaks Preferences menu, then right toacessibility, 
and right to
Assistive Technology preferences, then enter.  check Enable, and relog in.
