software speech and speakup

I did.
I have speech with speakup, however it is through flite.
How do I tell speechd-up I want to use espeak?

And my last problem:
The volume is quite soft. I Think pcm and master volume are on 100%. 
What else can I do to turn up the volume a bit more?
