viewing files/directories in side tarballs/tgz files

	Hi,

I have a tgz file on my system. I don't want to extract it to see what's 
in it. So is there a way I can check what's in it like files directories 
etc?

I could do this on my windows box by double clicking on the files and I 
could see all directories in the tgz file.

Does anyone know of a package that would show me this information?
I am on debian with no gui. I am using speakup and BRLTTY.
