one vinux-cli post installation problem

The keyboard got reconfigured, mostly not a problem except that the 
backslash key is gone.  The tilde key and the number key replaced both 
backslash and the vertical bar key normally used to pipe things to less 
and other applications.  The at sign got moved and the tilde accent key 
has a quarter shifted and accent unshifted on it.  The keyboard also has a 
euro key now.  Perhaps the backslash and vertical keys didn't actually 
disappear even on this keyboard but with speakup how would those keys even 
be accessed?  postgresql and mysql both require use of the backslash to 
exit those database applications.
