Windows virtual machine on linux help

I made a copy of windows xp that was running as a dual boot on my machine 
and turned the raw image into a vdi image and set up a virtual machine in 
virtualbox.  It appears to come up running but I can't be sure as it does 
not talk or make any other sound indication.  Has anyone successfully set 
up a virtual winxp that works with speech ans sound on linux using 
virtualbox?
