accessing ubuntu using virtual box?

Bridged means that it will connect directly to your network and that's
why the VM gets it's own IP from your router.
You'd want NAT which will share the hosts IP via network address translation.
You can also use Host-only which will be a private network shared with the host.
I use VMWare but the above terms should also apply to Virtual Box.
However, Virtual Box might use other words for the same features.
