Hi,
Ok, the name of the synth should actually be the name of the module,
wich is speechd for speech-dispatcher.
You can also set it in /etc/sbl.conf
The language could be set in /etc/sbl/spk/speechd

For kbdsniffd I did only:
make
sudo make install

Although I have many development packages installed already.

For sbl I had to install bluez-libs-devel and libusb-devel.
And then again:
make
sudo make install

But before that, I had to edit sbl/speechdlib.h:
diff --git i/sbl/speechdlib.h w/sbl/speechdlib.h
index 5462407..bd67488 100644
--- i/sbl/speechdlib.h
+++ w/sbl/speechdlib.h

 #ifndef _SPEECHDLIB_H
  #define _SPEECHDLIB_H

  -#include <libspeechd.h>
  +#include <speech-dispatcher/libspeechd.h>
   //#define _SPEECHD_H

    void speechd_close ();

The Orca directory, which I mentioned in my previous message is:
/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/orca
On my system it's found in:
/usr/lib/python3.5/site-packages/orca
That didn't cause problems though.

So sbl is working here with speech.
Unfortunately for me, no unicode support.

I can't find help mode, and the manual explains only command options.
The keymap files are installed in:
/etc/sbl/keymap/
So i reviewed them (A little hard to read without vowels).
At first glans I don't find anything special, which speakup or yasr didn't have.
Fenrir has much more functions, for example. But again, unfortunately for me, no unicode support for now.
However, sbl is very responsive here, which is a big plus.

Zahari
