installing speakup on RHEL 7/8

That's very true, but one would think the linux kernel is the same
everywhere?
I have to say having RHEL on a workstation is going to be an experience for
a lot of us, but unfortunately we don't have a lot of room to maneuver and
still comply with policy, so we are basically stuck with it

I doubt you're the only person, but I'm guessing that the issue you'll run
into is that RHEL is a server distribution and Speakup is a desktop package.
