Can't do. It's integrated with NetworkManager, not the (legacy) network
scripts, which is the whole point.

Please take a look at the package, and NetworkManager in general, and
realize that 'ifup vpn0' doesn't even make sense - which of the VPN
connections that the user creates are you going to use? On my system
I've got "RH Boston" and "RH Mt. View" for instance. Other users may
have other connections. 

Of, course, you may peruse the D-BUS interfaces in NetworkManager to
script things instead of relying on the nm-applet UI gizmo to do the
heavy lifting.
