I don't blame the kernel panic on "lack of support for my board".
All the kernels that I have used have supported the aic7xxx driver.
My complaint is that the kernel ported with FC-2 did not invoke this driver.

I'm not sure where you get 2.5.7, or what it refers to.
Actually I was running kernel 2.6.7 under FC-1 when I upgraded.

Why would that cause a conflict?
I had about 10 kernels to choose from (and still do)
from 2.4.19 to 2.6.7 and all of them worked and still work perfectly.

I have run yum update and the kernel still crashes.
As I said, it doesn't worry me as I prefer to compile my own kernel anyway.
[I don't understand the attachment people have to the kernel
supplied with a distribution.]

However, it would have been fairly disastrous if I had installed
instead of upgrading from FC-1 to FC-2.
