CUPS wont print file containing single null character

We have an application that appends a null character to some print lines. If there is a single null character in the disk spool file, CUPS interprets the file as an incompatible format. If we remove the null character, CUPS prints just fine. Is there a command line switch that will tell CUPS to filter the nulls and print everything else?

Thanks,
Bdavis
