Your system is actually booting. It's just having a problem with some of the
GUI -- sounds like an important file is corrupt. Try hitting CTRL-ALT-F1,
CTRL-ALT-F2, etc., to get a text mode prompt where you can log in and
hopefully resolve the problem of the damaged file.
