Up2Date - Error Loading Theme Default

After running Up2Date, I am not able to get into the system. I get the Error
Loading Theme Default.

Couldn't recognize the image file format for file
'/usr/share/gdm/themes/default/icon-language.png

What is the way to recover from this error.
