Fedora Core 3 / X11 Problem

Hi,
I recently installed Fedora Core 3 and I'm having a problem with X.
Periodically it just shuts down.
I can log in remotely when this happens (mostly) and see that X is
sucking up 99% of the cpu. I get a "Receiving no signal" error from
the monitor.
I am running the x86_64 version of FC3.
My hardware:
-----------------------------------------------------------
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
RAM: 512MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
Hard drive: Western Digital WD1600JD 160GB SATA
DVD: NEC ND-3500A
-----------------------------------------------------------
No problems on the installation.
I've run the system under windows and it runs fine so it isn't a
hardware problem.

I downloaded the latest release from X.org, compiled and installed it (6.8.2).

I did the following:
[douglass at skinner log]$ diff Xorg.0.log.old Xorg.0.log
14c14
< (==) Log file: "/var/log/Xorg.0.log", Time: Sat Feb 12 17:04:56 2005

between a log when it crashed and the current log.

Any tips on:
1) Where to start looking for the problem.
2) Anyone else seeing this?

I've looked through the other logs and seen similar problems but no answers.

Thanks in advance.
