routing VS nat: can FC3 just be a router between eth0 <-> ppp0 with no MASQ/NAT???

Unfortunately I do not have a choice of what I'm connecting to. I have
to connect to a VPN switch on the corporate side.

I just don't understand why it won't do what I'm trying to do.
