xmms installation problem

Have you installed xmms-mp3 ?  xmms-mp3 is needed to play mp3.
You may need to click : xmms> options> preferences  and enable your
plugin. Also if you use alsa make sure its configured. If pcm is your
mixer device make certain its not muted ( check volume control)
